FLIRT Akku for Lease

The FLIRT Akku combines the benefits of electric rail operation with the flexibility of battery-electric traction. On electrified routes, the regional multiple unit runs under overhead lines and charges its batteries at the same time. Where the overhead line ends, it continues its journey with zero emissions on battery power. It also recovers energy during braking and stores it in the batteries.

Its modular vehicle concept allows the FLIRT Akku to be flexibly adapted to different operating profiles and passenger capacities. The vehicles offer modern passenger comfort, barrier-free access, spacious multipurpose areas and features including air conditioning, Wi-Fi and passenger information systems.

The total of 55 two-car multiple units for which Northrail is responsible for the construction supervision and asset management operate on the Schleswig-Holstein battery network. They run throughout the state and as far as Lower Saxony, with a battery-powered range of up to 150 km.
