Coradia Max
The Coradia Max electric multiple unit operates on the Kinzigtal regional network in Hesse.
The Coradia Max is a modern electric double-decker multiple unit specially developed for heavily used commuter routes. A total of 29 trains for which Northrail provides asset management have been ordered for the Kinzigtal network in Hesse. Northrail is also responsible for construction supervision.
Thanks to its lightweight construction and optimised aerodynamics, the Coradia Max uses up to 35% less energy than older models. Its advanced regenerative braking system feeds recovered electricity back into the overhead line network. At the same time, the vehicle actively conserves resources, as 95% of the platform is made from recyclable materials.
The trains combine double-decker driving trailers with single-deck intermediate carriages and can be operated in four-, five- or six-carriage configurations. They are intended for local passenger services in the Rhine-Main region and northern Hesse and operate on the Kinzigtal regional network between Frankfurt am Main, Hanau, Fulda and Bebra.
