Traxx P160 DE ME

The diesel-electric Traxx P160 DE ME mainline passenger train operates on the West network in Schleswig-Holstein. Among other routes, it connects Hamburg with Itzehoe, Husum and Westerland on the island of Sylt.

The Traxx P160 DE ME is a powerful diesel-electric locomotive designed for flexible use in passenger transport. With four diesel engines and a total output of 2,252 kW, it can reach speeds of up to 160 km/h. Its multi-engine concept provides power as required, enabling efficient and reliable operation.

With starting tractive effort of up to 300 kN, the Traxx P160 DE ME is also designed for demanding routes and heavy passenger trains. The proven Traxx platform stands for high availability, robust technology and versatile applications.

The 15 Traxx locomotives for which Northrail is responsible as keeper, ECM and asset manager are in daily service on local passenger services along the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein and form part of the West network fleet.
