After months of preparation, the time had finally come. As the leading international trade fair for transport technology, InnoTrans brought the mobility sector together in Berlin.
With an exhibition programme ranging from rail vehicles and infrastructure to new technologies and mobility concepts, we were once again able to showcase our company at our stand. And this year marked a special occasion: the 30th anniversary of InnoTrans, which was launched in 1996.
At our stand, our team ensured, with plenty of energy and enthusiasm, that the four days of the fair were a resounding success.
Our highlight:
We are proud to have taken this important step together with Alstom. At InnoTrans 2026, we signed a framework agreement with Alstom for the supply of up to 100 Traxx Shunter locomotives. The agreement paves the way for the commercial launch of a new generation of shunting locomotives. The firm order of Northrail includes Traxx Shunter locomotives (which feature both a pantograph and diesel propulsion) as well as ten years of maintenance services for deployment in Germany. First deliveries are scheduled to begin at the end of 2029.
Thanks to its modular and scalable design, the new Traxx Shunter platform offers operators a flexible solution for a wide range of shunting, track works and mainline operations. The pantograph-diesel variant selected by Northrail combines high power and tractive effort with the operating autonomy required for medium- to heavy-duty applications.
Northrail and NRail said “Moin!”
Together with NRail, we brought a little piece of Hamburg to the German capital. With chilled drinks, northern German finger food, and great conversations in a relaxed atmosphere, it was the perfect way to round off the second day of InnoTrans.
There was plenty to talk about: alternative propulsion systems, rolling stock financing, digital solutions and, above all, how rail transport can continue to grow across Europe. Apart from the topics on the industry's agenda, there were also plenty of entertaining anecdotes from everyday life on and around the railway. We would like to thank all our guests for helping to make this an unforgettable evening.
We can look back on some fascinating discussions, our Hanseatic get-together and the signing of the framework agreement with Alstom for 100 Traxx Shunter locomotives.
