Our technical service team supports locomotives and passenger trains for both freight and passenger transport – from keepership and ECM services through to ESG-compliant fleet and project management. With forward-looking planning, technical expertise and close collaboration, we set the standard for rail operations that should be one thing above all else: reliable.
We support projects operationally, pragmatically and on an equal footing. We work in a targeted way and with clear objectives, with a focus on maximising availability.
From specification through to maintenance, we support all key phases of the vehicle life cycle. This ensures clear processes, high quality, reliability and transparency.
We combine technical expertise with in-depth knowledge and insight into the European rail market – for service that works across borders.
Our service team supports the development of new vehicle concepts for tomorrow’s markets. In doing so, we bring proven technology into the future.
Our solutions
Whether it is for construction supervision or maintenance, we provide reliable, high-performance vehicles for everyday operations.
Our modern fleet management combines technical, operational, commercial and resource-related aspects across the entire life cycle of our vehicles. To this end, we draw on our teams’ many years of railway experience as well as forward-looking digital solutions.
With the leading software Boom Rail Solutions, the MyNRail fleet portal and the “Paula” telematics box, we keep track of vehicle condition, availability, maintenance and relevant ESG criteria. We identify trends at an early stage, take targeted action and thereby optimise the economic value of our vehicles for our customers.
What we take care of
Life cycle management
Availability and performance management
Maintenance management
Data and digitalisation management
Cost-effective fleet management
Sustainability and energy efficiency management
From construction supervision …
Construction supervision encompasses technical and project-related monitoring during the manufacture of rail vehicles. As part of this process, we ensure that new locomotives and passenger trains comply with the agreed specifications and that any deviations are identified at an early stage.
What we take care of
Management of schedules, costs and quality
Review of design and manufacturing documentation
Monitoring compliance with specifications and contractual requirements
Factory visits and production acceptance inspections
Support with type testing and trials
Coordination between manufacturers, owners, lessors and operators
… through to commissioning
Commissioning begins once a vehicle is technically (largely) complete and being prepared for service. We support testing, approvals and acceptance through to handover to the operator. The aim is to bring the vehicle safely into regular operation and ensure that it meets all requirements.
What we take care of
Conducting inspections and test runs
Demonstrating compliance with safety-related and technical requirements
Approval management with authorities and infrastructure managers
Documentation review
Training of personnel (e.g. workshop and operating staff)
Acceptance and handover to the operator
Rectification of any outstanding defects
We plan servicing and maintenance proactively, monitor the condition of our vehicles and identify the need for action at an early stage. We ensure that spare parts are available in good time and coordinate repairs with our workshops and service providers. Our objectives in the process are clear: minimised downtimes and safe vehicles that are reliably available.
What we take care of
Servicing planning
Maintenance management
Condition monitoring
Workshop and service provider management
Spare parts management
Documentation and compliance
From vehicle keepership …
As keeper, we are responsible for ensuring that our vehicles can be operated safely and in compliance with regulations throughout Europe. For example, we take care of vehicle documentation and organise the necessary maintenance.
What we take care of
Vehicle registration and approval
Technical documentation
Organisation of maintenance
Documentation of modifications and conversions
Appointment of the ECM
Change management
… to ECM service
As a certified ECM (Entity in Charge of Maintenance), we are responsible for ensuring safe and compliant maintenance. In this context, we rely on an established service network of experienced and carefully selected workshops and service providers. Together, we ensure that our vehicles operate reliably and remain available.
What we take care of
ECM I–III
Servicing and inspection deadline management
Maintenance planning
Workshop management
Safety and risk management
Documentation and audit management
Configuration management
Sustainable service
For us, sustainable technical service means using vehicles for as long as possible, with maximum efficiency and minimal use of resources throughout their entire service life. Condition-based maintenance, refurbished components, targeted modernisation and optimised use of energy and materials are all a matter of course in this context. We set measurable standards for ourselves and regularly have our commitment assessed through independent certifications and ratings.
For your vehicles
Our technical service is not just for our own fleet. Keepers, owners and other stakeholders in the rail sector can also draw on our experience and services – from keepership and change management through to ECM II and III. Among other things, we support conversion projects, fleet management and reporting, and are continuing to expand our offering internationally.
‘The aim of digitalisation is to use the additional data to make decisions earlier, thereby increasing safety and availability. This means it can have a direct positive impact on the operation of our vehicles.’
